WARNING NOTICE
MOVEMENT OF DANGEROUS GOODS – WINTER SPORT ACTIVITIES
Who:
All Team Captains and Exercise Controllers of Winter Sport Activity
Situation:
The MOD is the sole UK organisation to have an exemption to transport certain categories of dangerous goods (DG) on the channel tunnel.
Due to a number of recent Army failings to transport DG in accordance with policy the MOD is now on “three strikes and you’re out” policy with Eurotunnel. We are currently two strikes down!
The loss of this facility would mean that the sole means of transporting DG freight over the channel is by ferry from Immingham (Grimsby) to Holland, there is no Dover route.
So what:
It is critical that we (the AWSA) do not incorrectly consign DG, which will result in the MOD losing its licence to operate. Team Captains and Exercise Controllers must consult Regional Command Movement Detachment as per Annex J of the ASWSA DIN 2022DIN10-024.
