The AWSA has received formal notification from the Defence Section, Vienna, that following an announcement from the Austrian Government, Austria will embark on a 20-day lockdown period commencing on Mon 22 Nov, with all resorts closing for the duration. As a result, they have advised that all currently deployed personnel are to return to the UK over the coming weekend. All personnel intending to travel to Austria over the coming weekend are not to travel and should also return to unit WIE. Ex Controllers are advised to monitor developments over the course of the next 10-days, although at this stage it is unlikely Austrian resorts will reopen before the end of this 20-day period.
