LAST POST – Arthur Harvey

It is with deep regret that we announce the death on Saturday 19th September of Arthur Harvey.

Arthur, a retired Major in the Royal Artillery, was an international shot and, at the age of 81, still a wonderful and inspirational shooting coach. Many, many Army and British National biathletes owe a great debt to him.

He trained scores of Regimental Shooting Coaches in Sennelager and Sonthofen Germany, and then at Budleigh Farm in his beloved Devon over the past 35 years. There is scarcely a GBR International biathlete over that time who was not coached or influenced at some stage by Arthur.

He also ran the UK Biathlon Weapons Pool and the ranges for many years when the Army & British Biathlon Championships (Ex Rucksack) were in Zwiesel, and also at the UKLF Championships (Ex Spartan Hike) in France. More recently he helped out at Ex Rucksack in Ruhpolding / Obertilliach.

The Funeral will be at 11.30am on Friday 9th October at St Andrew’s Church, Moretonhampstead and will conclude at the Farm on the South Range.

Please send letters of condolence or any donations (which will be split between the Moretonhampstead Hospital League of Friends and the Royal British Legion), to Leroy Funeral Service, Alphington Road, Exeter, EX2 8HH.
