Exercise INFANTRY NORDIC SWORD is the Infantry Nordic Ski Training Camp and Championships. Participants start with centralised preparation in UK during Nov, before deploying to Idre Fjall (SWE) for 3 weeks in Nov/Dec and then a week’s competition in Bessans (FRA) immediately prior to the Army Qualifying Championships in January. The exercise develops and tests individuals’ physical limits, their determination and endeavour towards the extremes of physical courage under stress, pressure and fatigue through the disciplines of cross-country skiing and biathlon. It prepares unit teams for the Army Qualifying Championships, with the intent for as many as possible thereby to qualify for the Army Championships, with possible individual selection for Army and National Development Squads. It is fully supported by the Army COC as Individual Military Training (IMT).
