AWSA WINTER SEASON UPDATE

By 5 January 2022No Comments

Unfortunately, due to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant, the restrictions placed on UK personnel travelling into France have not been lifted and direction from the French Embassy is that these may remain until the French half term (5 Feb). As a result, exercises scheduled to take place in France cannot continue as planned. Therefore, in consultation with DCGS, the LOC and the ASCB, we have taken the decision to cancel the Army Qualifying Championships – Exs SPARTAN HIKE and PIPEDOWN, and the Army Alpine Championships – Ex LION’S CHALLENGE. Furthermore, all Corps Exercises scheduled to take place in France throughout January should also be cancelled until such time that the French Government allow UK Nationals unrestricted travel into France.

While this is no doubt disappointing news, we hope you are understanding of our decision. We have already explored opportunities to hold these events later in the season but due to congested resort programmes and French holidays there was no other option available to us.
