2020 AWSA Nordic Competition Rules

The AWSA Army Ski Competition Rule Book is published in 2 disciplines – Alpine and Nordic. The Nordic ski disciplines covered include Biathlon, Cross Country (XC) and the Military Patrol Race.

  • AWSA 1.11 (IBU 1.2): The “3rd year Junior”, i.e. born in 1998, will now count as a “Junior” in the context of the “Novice / Junior / Youth Rule” (AWSA 1.5).
  • AWSA C.13 & C.14: Revised Qualification system for male teams and female athletes to Ex RUCKSACK.
  • FIS have changed their terminology from ‘Ladies’ to ‘Women’, which aligns with that used by IBU. Therefore all AWSA competitions are now for Men and/or Women. Corps and unit ski teams may continue to use ‘Ladies’ in their team titles, as that is a CO’s prerogative.

This 2020 edition is effective from 01 October 2019. It completely replaces all previous editions, amendments and drafts of the AWSA Nordic Rule Book, which should be destroyed.
